Energy-Efficient Space Cooling

Space cooling has become a major source of energy use, especially during the last 30 or so years. Particularly in certain parts of the country such as the South, space cooling-related expenditures can really add up quickly.

Most air conditioning in homes and commercial buildings today is supplied by central air conditioners, room air conditioners, or evaporative coolers powered by fossil fuels. To a lesser, but increasing, extent, heat pumps (in particular, geothermal heat pumps) are also used to provide space cooling.
